MTP 3D printer for medical laboratory

Designed for JSC Medtechnoproject
May 2019

MTP is an innovative medical device for reinforcing blood vessel prostheses (biopolymer-impregnated textile-based vessel prostheses).
In this project, I was a full-stack engineer developing the methods of reinforcing and testing.

Project composition

The device for reinforcing blood vessel prostheses

Engineering process

In this project, I developed a method for setting a spiral on a vessel prosthesis by using additive technologies. This device has the horizontal axis (Y), the vertical axis (Z), and the rotating shaft, on which the vessel is set. I opted for electronics to control the operation of the device. To ensure the accuracy and rigidity of the frame I used the standard aluminum profiles, which in turn ensures the minimum cost of the apparatus for small-scale production (from 20 to 50 per year).

Assembly of the final product

Manufacturing technologies used: 3D-milling and 3D-printing of plastic parts, cutting, bending and welding of metal parts.

Both products were presented at the Open Innovation Forum in the Skolkovo Innovation Center. We had a lot of good reviews. In addition, ART UP Studio received a Skolkovo award "Company of the year" for that medical device.
